Netology Smart Edge uCPE built on the principal of Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) and Software-Defined Networking (SDN) are new paradigms in the move towards open software and network solution. While NFV aims to virtualize network functions and deploy them into general purpose hardware.

Transforming the Enterprise with NFV and SDN

Using the ETSI reference architecture as a starting point, we have identified a set of key building blocks for an NFV solution. Netology can provide all of these building blocks or selected subsystems and components according to the requirements of each customer. Netology offers many options for CSPs depending on their choices at each layer. Netology is fully committed to openness at all layers of our NFV architecture to ensure that customers can pick and choose subsystems and components that are relevant for them.

Open Framework Architecture

Netology Smart Edge solution is based on a modular framework that supports open standards, protocols, and seamless API integration. Leveraging OpenContrail and OpenStack, the solution accelerates innovation by enabling collaboration with the open source community, significantly enhancing its effectiveness. Netology Smart Edge is also compliant with the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) NFV architecture standard and is extensible to third-party VNFs, enabling a robust and open ecosystem that encourages innovation.

Netology Smart Edge Manager is a VIM and VNF Manager that integrates with orchestration using REST API’s. Netology Orchestrator can be integrated with Multi-VIM orchestrators for OpenStack. Based on architectural and design choices, specific platform level characteristics are provided. Netology Smart Edge provides platform characteristics that allow uCPE customers to minimize hardware cost.
